The year of 2012 looks like it could be a great time for cinema. So, though we're now in the retrospective period of an Oscar's sanguinity, what sort of treasures does the rest of the year hold - well, luckily lots.
Dark Knight Rises
Christopher Nolan's depiction of the dark batman graphic novels of Frank Miller have so far for want of a better word been ACE. From what we've seen of the Dark Knight Rises it's even set to surpass the previous two versions of the trilogy.
Christian Bale returns again to create the same sense of authority and malevolence from everyone's favourite Bat. However, Batman's new adversaries include Tim Harvey as the super powerful Bane. Batman's new adversary arrives in Gotham City and pushes its police force to its limits, meaning the bat must resurface and clean the filth from the streets.
Dark Knight Rises looks set to be the must see film of 2012, and we can't wait to sit in that cinema having saved with our groupons ticket and just gorge on a feast of brilliance later on in the year.
The Avengers
More comic book brilliance here. The Avengers which is based on the comic of the same name and sees Nick Fury of SHIELD bring together some of earth's greatest heroes to defeat Loki and his army.
The film includes Thor, Iron Man, Captain America and a number of other super heroes we've seen emerge to the large screen in recent years. Looking like a blast a minute offering this film is set to suit the causal cinema goer, those who eagerly anticipated the previous films, or hardcore Avenger's fans.
Though we don't expect The Avengers to win any awards, we can't wait for the crash bang wallop of the comic books on the big screen. Oh, and Scarlet Johansson is in it too.
The Amazing Spider Man
Another great superhero flick and another one from Peter Parker, however it does have a complete change of staff.
Peter Parker finds out why his parents may have died and so ends up on a collision course with his father's former business partner. We're expecting big things from this film, with Androew Garfield in as Spidey and Emma Stone as Mary Kate. So, we're certainly eagerly anticipating some more spidey action as he webslings from here to there on the quest to find out the secret of his parent's death.
The Hobbit
Moving away from the whole idea of conventional superheroes to a different time and place inside the head of JRR Tolkien. The prequel to the Lord of the Rings, eagerly anticipated for nearly a decade is here.
The Hobbit has received a huge amount of noise since it began filming and is surely one of the most exciting films of the new year. Bilbo Baggins looks to retrieve the lost treasure from the dragon Smaug, who stole it from his home.
This Peter Jackson epic looks set to create a renewed interest in the trilogy of films which astounded the world a decade ago. Ian McKellan, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood return to brighten up our screens and our year. Maybe you should keep checking grup on for daily deals to the cinema for this big hit.
Men in Black III
Andy why not? Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones return as the MiB's and even get to travel back to 1969 to defeat the evil aliens from destroying the future. Emma Thompson even gets a job as an agent.
Expect the usual smart quips from Smith and the grumpy, seen it all before attitude of Tommy Lee Jones to make this a firm favourite.
